If I dpkg-source -x *.dsc for the xfree86 source package, then (as root) just go into the source directory and do a "debian/rules binary" the build fails with the following error: (cd debian ; gcc -O2 -o xserver-wrapper -g xserver-wrapper.c) touch build set -e; for i in debian/create-compat-* ; do echo $i; $i ; done; set +e debian/create-compat-xlib6 /bin/sh: debian/create-compat-xlib6: Permission denied make: *** [binary-compat] Error 1 And then it just stops.
