I have 4 dlink cards with this chip. The two newest cards will NOT work with the 2.4.18 drivers and the drivers from dlink will not compile on a 2.4.x kernel. Don't know if later kernels have a revised driver that will work or not. Did not have time to figure out what was going on myself and just used another card. I think dlink changed the ID numbers the PCI bus sees on the later models. Perhaps you are caught up in something like this?
