Almost... the disk doesn't support turning multimode _off_.

It will not affect operation of the disk.

If it gives you the heebie jeebies, you can change linux/drivers/block/ide.h 
from

#define INITIAL_MULT_COUNT      0

to

#define INITIAL_MULT_COUNT      32
