Are you using the NVidia drivers included with X, or the ones from Nvidia's website? In the latter case, did you follow the instructions included with the driver about GL support (I don't remember the details, but IIRC it concerns making sure that you're loading the library from /usr/lib/X11R6/lib/modules instead of /usr/lib/X11R6/lib)?
