Hi I did something recently like this, but It is not always a 'true' downgrade. I had a 'sid' pc but the last update was 6 months a go. So I changed the source list to 'sarge'. The idea is that my sid DEB versions were so old that most if not all were OLDER than sarge. Thus is was an upgrade in most cases. At least I have not had major breakage in the process.
