Mine did install and it shows that the correct xserver-common is installed. $ aptitude show xserver-xorg Package: xserver-xorg New: yes State: installed ... Depends: xserver-common (>= 6.8.2.dfsg.1-1), ... $ aptitude show xserver-common Package: xserver-common State: installed ... Version: 6.8.2.dfsg.1-1 ... xserver-common upgraded on my system along with the installation of xserver-xorg.
