Given your stated needs I'd suggest you try a computer fair/trash and
treasure/classified ads and look for a $10 - $20 (au - convert to your
local currency) AGP card. Throw the chipset details into
google.com/linux (or search engine of your choice) and check the
results. Pretty much anything with 128MB on-board will do what you want.
As others have pointed out nvidia proprietary installer works well
(export CC=/usr/bin/kernel_version_of_gcc) BUT for your stated purposes
the FOSS nv module will "just work".
