I suggest another name for this -- "contextual quoting"! That is, the art of only quoting what is needed for the sake of argument/discussion; putting your reply under each block, for contextual reference - in sequence. Doesn't need any extra configuration of the MUA, end-user only needs to be a little more specific than referencing the entire conversation...
