That's quite weird, indeed you should have something like that
/USR/SBIN/CRON[32528]: (root) CMD (   cd / && run-parts --report
/etc/cron.hourly)
/USR/SBIN/CRON[32528]: (root) CMD (   cd / && run-parts --report
/etc/cron.daily)
etc etc...

BTW Your crontab is correct

run
# run-parts --report /etc/cron.daily

then
# grep -i cron /var/log/syslog
