I have been using PendriveLinux and Rufus to "burn" ISOs (Debian, ArchLinux, 
FreeBSD, Ubuntu, Linux Mint) without problems.

Good advice ; using cat or dd is the supported method. There is also the
manual to read. Note that unetbootin is not mentioned at all and its use
is to be avoided.
