Apparently you're using 32-bit skype binary on 64-bit Debian, and skype tries to load Clearlooks theme engine from a different processor architecture. Which has nothing to do with this sed hack you've tried, an original skype would probably behave the same way. Since you're using Lenny, and more-or-less usable multiarch came with Wheezy, your best course of action probably would be creating 32-bit chroot with debootstrap and run skype from there.
