Haven't quite got that. From reading a few weeks ago, I added an
alpha channel (Layer > Transparency > Add Alpha Channel). Don't see
how to make anything transparent.
after add alpha channel you want to select everything except the thing
you want and then delete.
That can be on a layer or a separate document that you copy paste where
you want.
