As much as I'd like it to be the case, I'm still recording music on Cubase 5 VST / Windows XP (standalone workstation). It's light years ahead of any of the Linux alternatives. This is the only thing I still use Windows for. Muse is probably the best of the Linux bunch. It requires ALSA drivers to run, which was a problem for me because I do a RealAudio radio show once a week, and the Helix(RA) Producer streaming program doesn't like the ALSA OSS emulation. The version in Woody also kept hanging on me. Now I'm running unstable, I might give it another go. Sadly, it can't import Cubase files, so I don't see that my Cubase machine will be going away for several years at least.
