Postponing replacement of hardware is always a good idea (since it
extends to life of the current hardware, and thus reduces electronic
waste and such), but I think it's important to mention that another
option is to buy slightly less new&shiny hardware. Two-years old
hardware should be well-supported on Debian stable, will probably be
noticeably cheaper than the new&shiny thing, it should still be able to
serve you for the next 10 years, and it probably won't be very different
in terms of functionality anyway (since progress in hardware has been
rather slow over the last ... 20 years?).
