again, does the Linux kernel 6.12.y support those devices (WI-FI 7,

OK, you can always download a backported to Trixie Linux 7.x.y series
but the new Linux kernel 7.x *LTS* has yet to come (maybe at the end
of the year) there isn't none kernel 7 declared as *LTS*.
I looked through quite a bunch of AM5 motherboards earlier and for 2.5
Gbps ethernet the choice was pretty much the common Realtek (8125B if
memory serves). For me it's mature on Debian today, but there were
sudden hangs of the chip earlier. I.e. suddenly network stops, no data
in or out, ethtool still reports the PHY was connected. I haven't had
one of those in years any more though.
Does module unload reload reset the chip (the module's name it should
be: r8169)? Sadly the r8169 module comes without parameters so you can't
increase verbosity of the module, what at "dmesg" output? Does it help
booting with the "ipv6.disable=1" kernel parameter?
For wifi 7, I'm not sure, my wifi HW is 5. Intel's usually well
supported and their wifi 7 offering seems to be from 2023-2025 so
definite maybe now in Debian Stable.
I didn't find anything related in the kernel documentation directory of
the 6.12.y:
~/linux-source-6.12/Documentation$ grep -iR "wifi " * | grep 7
Oh, the PCI slot thing is such a pain. I also have a fat video card
which blocks two other PCI slots. I actually have an angled riser cable
to try to recover the one blocked x4 slot waiting for a trial. I don't
know if there are motherboards with some extra space for the x16 slot
but seems like there'd be a market. Or maybe that's why some cases have
those vertical mounting options? If the riser cable fits, then my extra
m.2 adapter goes into one of those.
Modern motherboards should take care of this, try to take a look at MSI
motherboards.
