Now if I cna just figure out wjat's causing X started by gdm to crash, as oposed to whne it's started by startx.
Geuss I better start trackng through the gdm startup scripts. Perhaps it
calls X with some arguments taht startx dose not ?
I think the first thing I'd try is: #apt-get --purge remove gdm #apt-get install gdm
