Neil,

in your platform, you advocate PPAs and modernising our build and
infrastructure.

What's the DPL's role in this? Or, put differently, couldn't you
just start working on this without the DPL hat? Why not? What's the
difference here?

Well, actually...

To all: what do you think you can do to make the PPA thing happen?

For this kind of subjects, it is important to really understand what
is missing to make it happen. From what I gathered, it is a mix of
lack of manpower and technical issues. A DPL can do little about
technical issues, but can try to make a call for help if involved
teams are okay with that. It could help to get the problem more visible
and attract new people. A DPL can also encourage a multi-team sprint
so that people are gathered and can at least work out a plan. We were
also discussing how to onboard new contributors. I believe PPAs could
do a perfect subject for an internship as it helps the applicant to
better understand Debian's internals and meet several teams.
