The TC is a project-wide court for technical issues with 8 judges,
and an issue they are deciding on might ideally not even affect
them personally. The formal voting process does make sense there.
The TC is also highly technical competent (what courts usually aren't),
and I have gotten valuable advice from them without actually being
overruled. I'd rather want to see them as an advisory body with
additional powers and I would love to see the TCs role in the project
strengthened, for example by giving them the power to decide or suggest
things without being asked. You all know that my pet peeve is that
Debian doesn't have technical leadership.
