That's only aspirationally true, unfortunately. *Right now* the power from my solar panel would go to the grid instead and, assuming no solar arrays in the local network are throttled due to overproduction, cause some kilos of CO₂ to not be emitted.
This assumes, of course, that the solar array *can* feed to the grid (and the attached battery, if any, isn't full).
