This was supposed to be just a small reminder/question, since multiarch took a lot more pace since the last activity on this bug. I did not mean to step on anyone's toes.
I applied the patch to the package sources and built it here for i386 and amd64, and I can confirm that it works, but something needs to be done about the config file. If there is anything I could do to help, please let me know - my packaging experience is rather limited though (my first package is still awaiting sponsoring, but I am using some more custom packages locally).
