As it turned out, the conffile issue is actually a bug in dpkg [1]. In theory (and once dpkg is fixed), it is perfectly fine to have a conffile in an MA: same package, as long as the content is the same for all architectures. Since the libxvmc wrapper uses dlopen, which uses the correct library paths, that's fine. So the original patch by Andreas Beckmann is actually correct. Could someone please schedule an upload?
