Sounds like it could be a issue with your code as well as with the Virtual 
stuff.. it would be hard for any delphi developer on this site to determine 
what is wrong without being able to see the code.. but from experience..
I would start with looking at the sql queries.. are you using a WITH NOLOCK 
command anywhere with in your sql queries? also what type of transactional 
processing are you doing.. are you doing processing anything with stored 
procedures...?
you have to give a little to receive a little.. so perhaps you could run a plan 
against your process and see where it is taking up most of the CPU

please provide the forum with some sort of code examples of what you are 
doing...?
also was this all done by yourself .. or was this a team effort.. If it were 
done all by yourself.. I would look at self first.. you may have forgot to do 
something that is eating up tons of resources
