VS has some nice features, but WinForms is still clunky and slow. The
object model is no better and often worse although
DataSets/DataTables/DataViews are much better. C# being case sensitive
along with some other very annoying traits bugs me to no end. I have been
working in VS since 2005 and Delphi since version 1 and can honestly say
Delphi is still the better WinForm development tool. Although Blend and WPF
are powerful and very cool. When I need to write a web app, I don't even
hesitate to pop it out in C#, but I still dislike the language syntax along
with some other annoying dotNet issues. Delphi may have lost its relevance
to mainstream coding and certainly is a niche development environment, but
it is still a great tool that has a respect for its long in the tooth
developers and still hasn't pulled the rug out from underneath us unlike MS.
MS has a habit of constantly revising their languages and object models
forcing constant and often unnecessary upgrades. Imagine if you had a few
million lines in VB code when dotNet hit... ouch.
