Okay anyone who's looking for a change, we really need someone NOW! I'm
off to Sydney next week and the company hasn't found a replacement for
me yet! Can't imagine why... :) I think the boss is still in denial
that I'm going (and since you ask, I got engaged to an Australian).

Said company is CJN Technologies Limited, in Albany North Harbour
Industrial Estate, Auckland. We're looking for a senior developer (and
a junior too). There are several advantages to working here. The
atmosphere is casual. We don't hesitate to use third party Delphi
add-ons if they'll make our lives easier (if they have source), and we
have in-house tools to help things as well. The emphasis is on
developer freedom and individual responsibility rather than strict
control and mountains of specifications.

We have an automated releasing system and a proper version control
system. We have scripting software for testing (SQA). We're using
Delphi 4 Client/Server. Some of our software is very well written, and
we have tables in our database that contain meta-data (links between
tables, column descriptions and suchlike) which make sophisticated
routines possible (eg. generic cascade-deleting). We make use of
charts, graphs and decision cubes and we've written our own components
where needed. Our software supports three different types of SQL
databases (so far). We haven't done any internet work (ok, so we did do
our website), but that may well change soon. We use the internet for
help, consult newsgroups, and all have 21 inch screens.

Our software's to do with the maintenance of New Zealand roads, with all
the accessories (lights, signs, bridges, accidents, you name it). Our
main program displays detailed maps of all the roads. There's plenty of
work that's been done, plenty that could be improved, and plenty of work
left to do in completely new areas. It's a great learning environment.

For the senior position, we're looking for someone not afraid to learn
new things, who's very good at Delphi and comfortable with SQL (and lets
face it, which brand of SQL doesn't matter. For the record, we tend to
use Informix the most, 'cos it's better ;). For the junior position, it
doesn't matter as much what sort of experience you have (within reason)
as long as you have a good brain. Can't discuss money without the
boss's approval, but I can say that I found no reason to complain.

In summary, it would be a shame if I had to continue supporting the
company single-handedly from overseas. So contact us now!!!! (Well,
actually the boss, Campbell Newman, is out this afternoon, so tomorrow
morning would be just fine :). E-mail him at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Cheers!
