Sounds great, but sadly I don't see it happening ... too many short-sighted idiots in charge of IT. They will keep up the same old stuff - Convert to .NET, yes ... but using what they have got. Why, because they will convert/port the code they have in the fastest and cheapest (short sighted short term) way possible. It will be .NET with a code base written in a bit this and a bit of that.
