I used to run dual Riva TNT2 cards (one AGP, one PCI) and had a second
smaller monitor I used on occasion when I was debugging really tricky GDI
drawing bugs. It was very useful for that purpose as each card has seperate
GDI drawing state and you can debug on one while having the application in
question paused and visible on the other.

Apart from that I haven't needed dual monitors for a while.

When my 21" started dying I moved to a Hyundai L70A 17" LCD screen, and just
for kicks went to whole hog and use a digital connection to the monitor. Its
the best thing I've done in years. Very happy eyes after a day of hard
coding and/or debugging.

I would recommend moving to XP if you are using an LCD monitor, because the
Cleartype sub-pixel fiont rendering is just totally fantastic! Probably the
single best reason to move to XP I have ever found.

One advantage is that I used to need keep the sun out of my office as it
made the monitor too hard to view. Now with the LCD I've got the brightness
wound way down and I still need the blinds open or its way to bright!

Cheers, Max.
