Dear Ross, It is not safe just simply read that key. I just use regedit to change the key.

Yes, I realise that. I was hoping to simply use the Windows serial number or registration number as it appears in the Windows System Properties. It doesn't matter so much that the same user has copied it to another PC, but I want to inhibit the user giving the software to someone else. Anyone know if the following reg key is always readable, even to non-administrators? HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ProductID Regards, Ross Levis. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Zealand Delphi Users group - Delphi List - [EMAIL PROTECTED] Website: http://www.delphi.org.nz To UnSub, send email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] with body of "unsubscribe delphi" Web Archive at: http://www.mail-archive.com/delphi%40delphi.org.nz/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Zealand Delphi Users group - Delphi List - [EMAIL PROTECTED] Website: http://www.delphi.org.nz To UnSub, send email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] with body of "unsubscribe delphi" Web Archive at: http://www.mail-archive.com/delphi%40delphi.org.nz/
