-migrating from D2006 -All pretty smooth so far - IDE looks more refined and slick and faster -Installing my extra components took 11 minutes (the joys of using most only standard VCL) -Built a couple of test programs then a good size one. All worked fine. -Entire tests and setting IDE options etc same as BDS2006 took under 2 hours -Looks like I will be using D2007 for production from now on.
Only hiccups were: -Installing .net v2 takes longer than installing D2007. Apparently most of the disk space is unneeded .net stuff including help see http://memyselfanddelphi.blogspot.com/2007/04/delphi-2007-putting-fat-cow-on -diet_16.html I haven't dared delete any of it yet... ;) -Had to realise installing Rave reports was a separate install option -Only problem so far: Help system is completely broken. No help anywhere shows - not for components, not for Tools/Options - nowhere. Tried a modify install, checked help was set to be on disk, didn't fix it. Only thing I did that was non standard was I installed the D2007/RAD not to C:\Program Files But to D:\BigPrograms As I prefer to keep larger stuff off the C Drive. Has this confused the system so it can't find help files? .Net stuff was installed to the default location. Hey I can always add the D5 Help to the tools menu again ;) In the famous words some may remember this fabled D2007 Help is like your proverbial Norwegian Blue Parrot. "Its not dead - its just sleeping!" Anyone have any suggestions???? Errors are like: The Menu Help option brings up the Windows Document explorer, but nothing at all in the index. Language options filters do not show Delphi....there are all the .net language choices (C# C++ etc), but no help for them either.
