Hi Phil,

I wanted to close this thread with the solution that worked for me.
First, this was a problem with my qt3 set-up (so it was also present
in qtconfig which is diagnostic of the problem); it was not a problem
with Kodos. Second, this is how I fixed it (this is on MacOSX):

pico ~/.qt/qtrc

(creating the file and adding only these two lines:)

[General]
font=Sans,12,-1,5,50,0,0,0,0,0

This provided a simple font for qt3 to use and magically everything
else fell into place.

It's worth noting that this problem only showed up on one of three
machines and that the solution should only be applied where it is needed.

By the way, I have Kodos and DenyHosts building (without modification)
against python 2.6 in the fink repository at SourceForge. Thank you
once again for creating these programs.
