Kim Haase commented on DERBY-2194:
----------------------------------

That's okay, Kristian, though I think it would be helpful if you backed out the
patch -- because based on Stan's comments, I think I want to go back to the
previous version for some things.

Stan, thanks for those additional comments. I was hoping to improve the
maintainability of the manual by putting in those variables instead of actual
dates, tags, and versions -- but a) they seem to cause confusion, and b)
obviously I missed some. I think it probably makes sense to revert to actual
dates/tags/versions, even though we will have to remember to update them with
every release.

> After rerunning the tasks in Working With Derby, I found a few more issues.
> 1) There's a step-ordering problem: The Introduction tells users to verify
> that DERBY_HOME is set, but instructions for setting it don't appear till
> Activity 1. The instructions for setting DERBY_HOME should be moved to the
> Introduction.
> 2) In step 2 of Activity 1, add a statement that ij commands can be in either
> uppercase or lowercase, to prevent confusion when both forms are used.
> 3) Fix horizontal and vertical spacing in command and code examples.
> 4) Correct the derby.log output and description.
