Thanks Myrna, thats great! I never thought of the difference in newline
characters.
I too get the permissions errors I think, at least I saw some when I printed
out the whole output from sysinfo, but those lines are removed so they don't
affect the test.
I will try to figure out what causes it though, as it can be confusing and
messy that they are present in the log.
I'm working on DERBY-3834 right now and alot of your modifications are
appropriate there as well, so I'll put them in before I post it.
