Thanks for that explanation, Kristian. I think the checksummed signatures are
goofy but harmless. I agree that we can leave this alone since other projects
tolerate the goofiness too.
By the way, I noticed that all of the projects you cited, except for shindig,
have artifacts at the deployment location you're proposing:
people.apache.org/www/people.apache.org/repo/m2-ibiblio-rsync-repository'. I
don't understand the relationship between that deployment location and the
repositories you just cited, which are all on repo1.maven.org, not
people.apache.org. For the record, my apache credentials work on
people.apache.org but not on repo1.maven.org.
