Hi everyone,

To be honest, I don't like the changes proposed in this mailing list. I'm
really happy with the current home screen design.
That said, I wouldn't necessarily be against bigger icons or having a link
to the website somewhere, as long as it was designed well.

Most people can easily find our homepage themselves if they need it.
Those that can't wouldn't be technically competent enough to donate online
anyway.

Aero is very tasking, true, but icons don't really figure into the equation
here -- the difference between processing power required for the current
and the classic icons is so miniscule that it doesn't really make sense to
make big design decisions because of it.

In the long run, though, we could opt for a less tasking design direction
that uses simple 2D shapes and few colors instead of an intricate mix of
various colors and gradients, quasi-3D, and shadows and bevels. Google is
doing this on its services and on Android, Microsoft is doing this with
Metro on Windows, and designers in general are increasingly opting for
minimalistic designs.
