After some consideration I think this idea is good. At least it is a worth a 
discussion with the community. With this intention I prepared a blog post:

(the text should be published finally, if we decide so, at the LibO design

I'm sure there are some features that I missed. For instance there should be 
the feature of  helper grid lines. Doesn't work for me. And maybe we do not 
share the same view on requirements and exisiting functionality. So please add 
your comments and thoughts.
