An in-place animation that replaces the sharing status icon would be nice. Something to show uploading and downloading changes. Apple Mail does this nicely and so does Safari. We should be able to simply generate an animated gif to do this. I'll go file an enhancement bug.
+1. Completely agree

You're interpretation of the sharing icons is interesting and not what we expected. Give us an update if you're able to decipher more about what they mean ;o)
The arrow looks like the send button, although it appears after having syncro.
I would have expected an icon more similar to synchronization (two arrows in opposite directions) not an icon like the send button.
On the other hand I have only seen the gray arrow and nothing so I cannot decipher anything else (am I missing something?)
Apart from this in the lines of the animated gif, It also could be nice n animated arrow for uploading, one for downloading, one for OK sync (static) and one for bad sync (static), similar to iTunes when one rips a cd and you see each track with a wavelength moving and the icon changes colour.

I managed this time to share a calendar.

Things that I noticed:

a) It would be nice if sharing was to be in the background, so this way we would continue using Chandler while sharing
b) It would be nice that sharing could be user selectable and that the program would share every 5 min or another lapse of time, like mail programs do.
d) I noticed the icon to the right is an arrow meaning that this collection is being shared. I don´t know whether it is only uploading or also downloading, and in this case: should the icon be more a two half arrows going from one place to the other?
