I also am experiencing this problem on gusty, but have been able to get it to delete the tracks. When I delete a track, it removes itself from the players DB, but the memory is still tied up. I looked at my trashcan and didn't see icon for items in it. Clicking the trash can though will show you the deleted songs there. But since the trashcan doesn't realize there are items in it, rightclicking won't empty. You need to go into it.
