Guido's comment is very apt. This type of bug can create very negative perceptions for Ubuntu if it is not at least highlighted in release notes. Just a few days ago a colleague said that he was interested to test out Ubuntu on his netbook (most likely an MSI...) and I had to caution him.
Note: the bug seems to appear in xfce4-power-manager also.
