In the gnome-power-manager this property is used in gpm-brightness- hal.c, but not in gpm-brightness-xrandr.c. I am not sure how it works - are there two ways to set brigthness, one using hal and another one using xrandr? My system uses the functions in gpm-brightness-xrandr.c
