The same bug has returned again for me. All I have done is reboot into an older kernel: 2.6.31-16-generic. I was trying to see if the microphone and sound recorder worked in that but got the message: "Could not capture using the 'Voice, Lossless' wav profile. Please verify its settings. You may be missing the plug-ins". That happened as-well immediately after the rebooting back into 2.6.31-17-generict but now again when I try it, just a few minutes later, I don't get the message. Of course the microphone still doesn't work. So this seems a non repeatable bug with me.
