I switched user to my other login. Opened System, Preferences, Multimedia systems selector, selected: OSS-Open sound system for the input and saw that it wasn't supported by a driver for input device, so went back to alsa microphone input for device. I then tried sound recorder but the error message returned: "Could not capture using the 'Voice, Lossless' audio profile. Please verify its settings. You may be missing the necessary plug-ins". I then logged out of the user account back into my main user account and the message has returned again in that account. Probably if I wait a few minutes and try sound recorder again the message will not appear.
