I'm almost sure the bug is caused by - let's call it - NetworkManager
icon inside Notification Area applet!

When you get your icons distorted right-click on the affected panel
click "Properties". In "Panel Properties" change panel orientation to
"Left" or "Right" and back to "Top" or "Bottom". In my case all icons
are displayed properly, but one (mentioned above) is missing.

Do not logout (as I did before) or reboot (as some of you did) please
and confirm, if the trick with panel orientation worked for you, next
time problem shows up :)
