Jeremy I'd like to keep testing 17.10 and try to be of help by reporting bugs. I sorted out the extension problem by deleting contents of /extensions and reinstalling: open weather, show ip, panel extender, and places. I use Chrome and Chrome Gnome Shell version 9. I haven't had any issues with Chrome Gnome Shell specifically.
