Public bug reported:
**"Nautilus breadcrumb bar drop: small files copied instead of moved;
large files move correctly"**
**Package:** nautilus
**1) Ubuntu release:**
Description: Ubuntu 26.04 LTS / Release: 26.04
**2) Package version:**
Installed: 1:50.0-0ubuntu2
**3) What you expected to happen:**
Dragging files from a subfolder and dropping onto a sibling folder via the
breadcrumb path bar should move the files in all cases. The source folder
should be empty afterwards.
**4) What happened instead:**
The operation produces inconsistent results depending on file size. Dragging
large files (~1–6 MB) correctly moves them — source folder is empty afterwards,
toast reads "Moved 11 files to DestinationFolder". Dragging small files
(~13–700 kB) using identical steps instead copies them — source folder retains
all original files, toast reads "Copied 11 files to DestinationFolder".
No modifier keys (Ctrl/Shift) were held during either operation. The
only variable is file size.
Screenshots and screen recording attached.
