On a Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15IAU7 running Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS, kernel 7.0.0-31-generic, GNOME under Wayland intermittently becomes severely unresponsive. The system itself remains operational: the clock continues, applications continue running and Terminal remains accessible. The graphical session can be recovered with: sudo systemctl restart gdm3 This terminates the graphical session and closes all open applications. On some occasions the GUI eventually recovers without intervention, but usually restarting GDM is required. The problem has occurred unpredictably, ranging from several times within minutes to several days without recurrence.
