I hope that Sun will consider also offering a stand-alone calendar program so that the calendar is not tied (at run-time) to a specific email client. Email-based notifications can still be sent out using the email system which is included in Solaris (i.e. sendmail) so it is not necessary to depend on an email client which delivers outside of the OS email facilities. Coupling the calendar to an email program effectively establishes policy as to which email program needs to be used. People use many different email programs for a variety of reasons.
