Dick: Note that lame is not included with Solaris. So, you may not find much information about this on a Solaris-specific mailing list.
I would recommend you direct your question to a more general mailing list, perhaps gstreamer-devel at lists.sourceforge.net http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/lists/ I would bet you would get more help there since the GStreamer mailing lists are a better forum for general GStreamer questions.
