When I run with visual effects set to Normal I still see  
/usr/bin/compiz-bin still running.
  Do I have to reboot? Is compiz the only window manager

ps -eaf  | grep -i com
/usr/bin/compiz-bin --indirect-rendering --replace ccp  
--indirect-rendering --f

I am running 6 workspaces.
