I think there are pros and cons to both approaches. One thing I can say is that 
we get far
less complaints about the new behaviour than the old behaviour :)
Your situation does present a  situation where the older behaviour might have 
suited you
better though. But there are severla options to you to avoid this problem:

- Don't let Transmission move the source files to trash.
- Don't take snapshots of the folder you download torrents into. If you are 
using time-slider
  you can deselect filesystems in the setup GUI. You could optionally also 
create a seperate
  zfs filesystem for your torrents and tell time-slider not to snapshot it.

Because simply deleting files doesn't free up disk space when you have 
snapshots, time slider
also starts deleting some snapshots when disk space runs low to free up space 
being used by
snapshots but for some situations it is best to not take snapshots at all. A 
torrent download 
directory is a perfect example of something you might not want to have 
snapshotted.
