I can see only a few differences.
Arwen == solaris10; Westmark is on snv_99

I just compiled Lyx again on snv_99 with your Qt package but this
program also halted with some errors after starting up and configuring
itself. So I guess it's the compiler in the process that makes a
difference on S10 and/or nevada-b99
