Hi Alan, > Yes. We're changing which commercial fonts are bundled with Solaris > Express, and unfortunately the old ones had to be removed before the > new ones were ready to add. The dropped fonts include Arial, which > you may have had Helvetica aliased to. Thanks for pointing this out. So I checked a little more. Indeed the helvetica truetype fonts are aliased to monotype-arial in /usr/X11/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType/fonts.alias (I didn't touch the alias list, thats the one from the upgrade) As far as I can see on my box Arial is still in the SUNWxwfnt package? Although I have a number of monotype-arial entries in /usr/X11/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType/fonts.alias (including the right locale etc) vnc still fails to find the font unless I add the fonts.dir entries from my old snv95 box. (after running mkfontdir for /usr/X11/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType/ I have 350 monotype fonts in fonts.dir, after adding the fonts.dir entries from the old box I get 395 monotype fonts) So I'm kinda lost and any hint what's going on here is very welcome.
Bernd
